Dlhi Tourist AttractionsThe capital city of India, Delhi is not only politically significant but also has historical and cultural importance. The city is home to many monuments, places of significance, memorials of great leaders, cultural centers, colorful markets and religious places.

Red Fort : This Red Sand stone structure is the most magnificent piece of architecture built from in 1648 AD. This grand fort is 3 kilometers in perimeter reaching to height 18 to 30 m at certain places. The evening is lit by a pomp show put by the Delhi Tourism Department. The tourism ministry holds a heart captivating light and sound show, which narrates the history of Delhi in context of the Red Fort.

India Gate : India Gate is a key symbol of patriotism. On its walls are engraved the names of the 85,000 Indian Army Soldiers who died in the campaigns of World War I.

Qutab Minar : Built in 1199 AD by Qutbuddin, Qutub Minar poses an undaunting pedestal to the visitors. Its circumference from the base is 14.32 meters. It tapers to 2.75 meters at a height of 72.5 meters. Till today, it is the highest stone and one of the finest stone towers in India. The Sultan's successor and son-in-law, Iltutmish, finally completed this grand architecture. The tomb of Iltutmish, which he himself built in 1235 AD, is located nearby.

The Lotus Temple : Completed in 1986, the Lotus Temple or the Bahai temple is set amidst beautiful landscape. It is premier meditating centre free to be visited by anybody to everybody.

Chandni Chowk : Juxtaposing Red Fort, this is the busiest and happening place where you can enjoy tint of both the old world and new world. You can easily find all old and new items starting from textiles, jewelry, home furnishings, spices, household items to electronics, chemicals, ceramics, electrical, apart from other things.

Jama Masjid : built in 1650 AD by Shah Jehan (the Vth Mogul Emperor) one of the largest mosques not only in Delhi but in India. Completed in 1658 this Mosque has three gateways, four angle towers and two 40 m high minarets. It is also surrounded by Delhi's key business centre.

Raj Ghat : It is situated along the banks of the river Yamuna. It is mausoleum to father of the nation, Mahatma Gandhi. Of late it has become a key tourist spot, which is often thronged by dignitaries from across the globe.

The other major tourist attractions not to be missed out are Nizamuddin's Tomb, National Museum, Dilli Haat, Delhi Zoo, Humayun's Tomb and Connaught Place.
